First of all, congratulations to the Oklahoma Sooners. They beat Missouri in Norman. They soundly defeated the Tigers Saturday night in San Antonio. They have bigger, stronger and faster athletes — just better football players. They wore down Mizzou in the second half. They were better coached and better prepared. Coach Bob Stoops and staff showed Gary Pinkel and crew, that while they’ve made considerable progress up the mountain, there’s a long way to go to get to the summit. (more)

Tigers, Jayhawks, and a secret confession

During the week of the biggest football game in the 116-year rivalry between Missouri and Kansas, I have a confession to make As a Missouri grad and lifetime Tigers fan, I’d rather beat Illinois than the Jayhawks. It’s true. The sport doesn’t matter — football, basketball, ping pong — you name it. Beating the Illini is just better.

Yes, I know, Missouri and Illinois are not conference rivals, so a victory doesn’t have the same impact. And, obviously, this year’s MU-KU game has significantly higher stakes. But it’s the way I feel. (more)

More impressive - KU’s 76 or Mizzou’s 45-point win?

The 76 points Kansas put on Nebraska Saturday afternoon is sucking up a lot of media oxygen, but the Missouri Tigers 55-10 victory over Colorado was just as impressive - probably more so. Consider the following:

  • Kansas, playing at home, beat Nebraska by 37 points.
  • Mizzou, playing on the road, defeated the Buffaloes by 45. (more)
